Family pet missing and trail of blood in home

A distressed Waterside householder returned home on Friday (September 12) to discover their pet dog missing and a trail of blood leading from their living room to their backyard.

Police at Strand Road are investigating the disappearance of the dog from the house in the Currynierin area.

Detective Constable Richard Donnell said that at about 6.30pm on Friday a resident returned to his home at Ridgeway Drive to find the family’s Jack Russell was missing.

“A trail of blood was found from the living room to the back yard and we are investigating the possibility that someone went into the house and harmed the dog, before removing it,” he said.
