Final push for charity

THREE local rally enthusiasts will make a final push to raise money for a children's cancer charity on Friday night.

Brothers Chris and Jim Flanagan along with Paul McManus have been raising funds for Shine A Light in the run up for their charity rally across Europe this month.

They've pledged 5,000 and are just 400 away from their target. To that ends they're putting on their last fundraising event in JP's this Friday.

Paul said: "We've held collections at Lurgan and Banbridge Tescos, Lurgan Show, Bannville House Hotel, Portadown SRC and Lurgan SRC and had donations from local businesses. We're almost at our target. This Friday we are putting on our last fundraising event at JP's Bar and Lounge in Lurgan.

Hopefully this will see us meet the target for Shine A Light. We're very grateful to everyone who's supported us."

Local band Wiseguys will be playing (featuring Chris Flanagan on drums) and there will also be a disco and a late bar.

Admission will be 3.50 with doors opening 8.30pm.

The three men will be travelling across Europe in a 14-year-old Honda Accord costing just 750.
