The fire chief said: “The building contained furniture. It may have been started by children messing about with matches.”

He explained that while the fire was extinguished within ten minutes, the fire crew spent some time searching the property in case anyone was there or may have been injured.

He also issued a warning to children playing with fire and its consequences.

The PSNI were contacted to ensure the owner will secure the building.
