Four year ban for motoring offences

A DERRYTRASNA man has been banned from the roads for four years after an accumulation of driving offences.

He was 24-year-old Sean Paul Derry of Loughview Terrace.

On August 8 police received a report of a vehicle which had been reported stolen by the defendant.

The Vauxhall Nova was later found in the front garden of a property on the Derrytrasna Road

When police visited the defendant they observed he had injuries consistent with a road traffic collision.

Derry then admitted to police he was driving the vehicle.

Craigavon Court was told that on September 15 Derry had appeared in Dungannon Court for a number of driving offences including driving whilst disqualified. He was given a four-year disqualification and fined 340.

On the night in question the defendant had received a phone call from his older brother to go to pick him up from the pub. He had driven from Derrytrasna to Derrymacash and the accident had happened at a bad bend on the Derrytrasna Road. Derry's solicitor said his client accepted his driving was not to a sufficient standard.

For careless driving Derry was fined 100 and disqualified for four years to run concurrently with the sentence given to him in Dungannon Court. For failing to stop, failing to remain, failing to report and driving without insurance Derry was given a two month sentence suspended for three years.
