Fun day to mark re-opening of Greenisland allotments
Councillor Audrey Wales MBE welcomed members of the community to a fun day which included grow your own workshops, scarecrow making, bee hotel building and face painting.
Cllr Wales said “Due to a number of development issues with Greenisland Allotment Gardens over the past year, Mid and East Antrim Council have made a number of significant improvements to the site including new fencing and gating.

Allotment gardening, she added, can provide a number of benefits such as the opportunity to produce a wide range of inexpensive healthy vegetables, whilst at the same time providing physical exercise in the outdoors.
MEA Council also has allotment sites at Eden and Larne. To find out more or to apply for a plot, visit www.midandeastantrim.gov.uk/allotments
