Glenarm gets ready to rock .. and lots more!

EXCITEMENT is mounting ahead of this year’s CLASH OF THE CELTIC GIANTS at the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival, which kicks off on Friday 13th July in the idyllic grounds of the Glenarm Castle Estate, Glenarm.

From Friday, the Estate and surrounding area will be filled with a stellar line-up, which includes music from Ronan Keating, Sharon Corr and Brian Houston, food from celebrity chefs The Fabulous Baker Brothers as well as the epic Clash of the Celtic Giants, Highland Games.

Organisers of the event have been busy making final preparations to ensure that whatever the weather – visitors are sure to enjoy some of the best music, sport and food that the Glens have to offer.

On the sporting from the main highlight for the festival weekend will be the CLASH OF THE CELTIC GIANTS, Highland Games, which will see a team of Ireland’s leading strongmen go head to head against the toughest opposition that Scotland can muster.

Taking place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th July at Glenarm Castle, County Antrim this twist on the famous Highland Games is the first of its kind with teams competing together to triumph. Events kick off on Friday morning with Lord Antrim opening the Clash of the Celtic Giants at 11am.

“On Friday 13th July you can also enjoy a tour of Glenarm Castle – a rare treat as the family the Castle is only open a few days during the year. The Walled Garden, a true hidden gem will also be filled with music and dancing courtesy of the Ulster Scots agency.

“Performers include Family Folk Traditional Folk Group, The Willie Drennan Ulster Scots Band, Broken Strings Bluegrass Band, Scottish Highland Dancing, Glenarna School of Irish Dancing, Solo Piping and Drumming and St.Patrick’s Youth Pipe Band.”

Music fans will be treated to a headline performance from pop star Ronan Keating who will be performing some of his greatest hits on Saturday 14th July. Joining him will be fellow Irish superstar, Sharon Corr, who will be performing tracks from her debut album Dream Of You as well as some of The Corrs’ hits. Tickets are still available at a price of £39.95, which also offers free access to the Clash of the Celtic Giants, Highland Games in the Castle grounds.

Festival-goers can savour fine foods in a showcase, sponsored by Gleanrm Organic Salmon, which will feature TV’s hottest chefs, the Fabulous Baker Brothers as well as a line up of award-winning Taste of Ulster Chefs, local producers and artisans, who together will celebrate some of the exceptional produce of the Glens of Antrim and Northern Ireland as a whole.

The week-long festival also includes a free Gospel Concert on Saturday 15th July with a headline performance from singer songwriter Brian Houston as well as a show-stopping fireworks finale on 21st July. The week includes a rowing regatta, horse hunt chase, triathlon and much, much more.
