Alderman Bradley wished the Good Morning Causeway service a happy birthday and many more of them, as he cut the superb birthday cake kindly gifted by Kathy Dickey, Angel Cake Bakery, Coleraine.

He reflected on the past year and on the benefits of the community and statutory links that the service has built up and thanked the volunteers for their dedication and commitment.

Mrs Lena Hinds spoke on behalf of the clients thanking Joann Dunseith and her team for the wonderful service. “I just love my daily calls and look forward to them. To all the volunteers at Good Morning Causeway may I thank you on behalf of everyone here, keep up the good work and wish you many more birthdays to come.”

Mrs Elizabeth Butcher, a volunteer with the service, also remarked on how much she enjoyed being a part of such a worthwhile service.

Joann Dunseith, Co-ordinator of Good Morning Causeway stated: “I have had the great honour and privilege to be with Good Moring Causeway from its beginning.

“From zero clients we have promoted the service and we are pleased to say we are supporting 50 clients one year on. This number is constantly growing as we receive new referrals regularly.

“We work closely in partnership with several of the statutory agencies and PSNI who refer potential clients to the service. We make different types of support calls from medication reminder calls and appointment reminder calls to calls designed to let the client know they are not alone.

“A client once said to me: ‘The greatest present a friend has ever given me was the introduction to the Good Morning service, it’s like a gift every day with the joy of someone to take time and talk to me.
