Hillhall Presbyterian to commemorate World War

Hillhall Presbyterian is set to host an evening of commemoration to mark the beginning of the First World War.

The programme for the evening which starts at 7.30pm on September 27 will tell the story of the greatest historical event of the 20th century.

The record of the conflict will be presented via narration, verse and music, provided by the award winning Comber Silver Band.

On the evening there will be a display of First World War memorabilia which may viewed by the audience over light refreshments.

There will also be an opportunity to obtain a copy of the recent publication “Hillhalls Great War Dead” which tells the story of men who gave the ultimate sacrifice and whose names are recorded on the church war memorial.

Rev Paul Jamieson, minister of Hillhall, speaking about this event, said: “I am delighted that Hillhall can host this prestigious production during such a significant year.

“We trust that following this presentation the whole community will have a deeper understanding of the history of the First World War”

Mr Thomas McWatters, Chairman of the organising committee said “This event is open to everyone and visitors will be made most
welcome.”

He added: “The organising committee would like to thank Lisburn City Council for their support in this venture.”
