Hospice benefits from Musical Society’s Christmas concert

Lurgan Musical Society have presented a cheque for £600 to Newry Hospice raised at their Christmas Concert in Lurgan Town Hall on Friday, November 29.

The audience enjoyed the concert immensely with songs from the world of opera and operetta as well as musicals old and new. The crowd joined in with the musical society as they sang some festive songs and carols. Santa also made an appearance, bringing delight to many.

Members presented a number of solos, duets and trios while the wonderful chorus were in fine voice on Friday night. Ron Moore accompanied on drums while Deirdre Austin, Marita Brophy, Kathleen Headley, Maureen Teresi, Heather McCarter and Brian McConville sparkled as they tapped and waltzed during the evening.

Two young stars of the future, Aoife Brophy and Patrick Moore, featured during the concert and their musical talents were greatly appreciated by everyone present.

Lurgan Musical Society is also indebted to many friends and family members who helped at the concert and added to the evening’s success. A special thanks was extended to the Windsor Bakery and D H Plant Hire for donating raffle prizes and with donations made by friends and families.
