Larne Music Festival ends tomorrow

Larne Music Festival 2014 is now underway.

The annual event began on Wednesday and will run until Saturday, May 3.

Wednesday’s programme featured an instrumental section, and today will see a piano section, with choral on Friday and a new section – traditional – will round off the festival on Saturday.

Larne Music Festival Association was founded in 1925.

The festival’s success in the early years continued until the mid 1950s. Changing trends meant that the festival fell by the way-side and eventually support petered out.

However, the festival was re-instated in 1999 and has enjoyed a strong following ever since. From small beginnings it has grown into the friendly, well-supported event it is today.
