Local M&S store awarded for their commitment to charity fundraising

Staff in M&S Lisburn have been awarded for their commitment to charity fundraising at a national awards ceremony, it has been revealed.

The store based in Sprucefield Shopping Centre, received the coveted ‘Fundraising Award’ at the annual Pride of M&S Awards, which recognises the achievements of M&S staff across the UK – be it individuals, teams or stores.

Up against stores from across the UK, M&S Lisburn clinched the accolade after raising over £64,000 in charity funds during the 2015/2016 financial year.

Charities included Kindfund – a local charity which helps people in need in Northern Kenya – Action Cancer and Macmillan Cancer Support. Additionally, a Healthy Eating Club for staff was established and a Christmas Toy Appeal was launched to collect presents for under-privileged children in local communities.

Led by charity co-ordinator Stephen Hilland, a team of over 20 M&S staff delivered a calendar of events all in aid of reaching their fundraising goals.
