Magherafelt drink driver crossed on to wrong side of road
William Robert Booth (48), of Carraloan Road, also lost his licence for five years for driving while having consumed excess alcohol at King Street, Magherafelt, on March 13.
Imposing the penalties, District Judge Alan White told Booth his behaviour was “intolerable” and must end.

A prosecuting lawyer said police on mobile patrol at King Street saw a BMW car pull out straight across the road and speed off towards Toome.
The barrister said the vehicle continued at speed inside the 30mph limit and police saw it crossing the central white line.
Counsel said the vehicle was also observed crossing onto the wrong side of the road before they activated the blue lights and pulled it over. She said Booth was not able to perform simple tasks and admitted having had a few drinks. He provided a breath specimen the lower reading being 77mgs.
Defence solicitor Stephen Atherton pointed out that there was a nine-year gap since defendant’s last offence.
