McCune calls on people to 'vote for change'

CONSERVATIVES and Unionists candidate Rodney McCune has asked voters in East Antrim to "vote for change" when they go to the polls on May 6.

“The reality is we cannot go on as we have been. Our country’s finances are in a mess, Westminster has been marred by scandals and Northern Ireland is not being fully represented at Westminster,” he claimed.

“We need to make politics more local, more transparent, more accountable and place integrity and hard work at the heart of our representation. That is what the Conservatives and Unionists offer at this election.

“The only way to get back on our economic feet is to boost enterprise and support local businesses. Conservatives and Unionists aim to cut corporation tax rates, abolish taxes on the first ten jobs created by new businesses, promote green jobs and get people off welfare and back into work. That is the sort of society we all want.”

Meanwhile, speaking on the Conservative Party’s announcement of a ‘Fair Fuel Stabiliser’, Mr McCune added: “I understand that the cost of living is currently the number one concern for Northern Ireland’s families. Fuel prices are a particular worry. That’s why I fully support the Conservatives and Unionists’ commitment to consult on the introduction of a Fair Fuel Stabiliser.

“Under a Fair Fuel Stabiliser, when fuel prices go up, fuel duty would fall. And whenfuel prices go down, fuel duty would rise. Government would save in the good timesin order to help in the bad times. It’s a sensible example of fixing the roof when the sun is shining.”
