“When out on the ground with my constituency work I am continuously lobbied on the issue of GP waiting times and the difficulties in accessing GP Out-of Hours Services particularly in the Upper Bann area.

“We are very fortunate in that we have the best GP workforce in the world but also the oldest and therefore it is vital that we invest given the increasing demand from an ageing population.

“Investment will ensure that people will get a GP appointment when they need it as it will help attract more GPs to work in practices, alongside more pharmacists, nurses and other professionals.

“I want to see the shortage of GPs addressed and I believe that this will go someway to attracting new people into this vital role.

“A role that plays a key part in transforming our health and social care system and creating a 21st century service that all can enjoy.”
