MS Society role ‘provides listening ear’

Support volunteers provide a crucial role in offering a listening ear and emotional support, and help people with MS access the right services and grants – including for home adaptations and short breaks. They also offer home, hospital and care home visits which can make a massive difference to people who can’t leave their homes or who feel isolated.

Volunteers will be provided with comprehensive training, induction and ongoing support.

Branch volunteer Margaret Fry said: “Volunteering with the MS Society is incredibly rewarding. There are 4000 people living with MS in Northern Ireland so almost everyone knows someone who is affected by this condition.

“Support volunteers play a really important role providing a listening ear to people going through a difficult time as well as helping them to access grants and other useful services. We’d like to appeal to anyone who would like to make a difference for families affected by MS to consider becoming a support volunteer”.
