Hydro-electric work begins

WORK is due to begin today on a hydro-electric scheme in Dungiven, with Bleach Green Lane to be closed as a safety precaution.

A spokesperson for the developer said: “Planning permission has just been granted and work is due to begin on Wednesday, the 12th of September (today).

“The work will be in a number of phases. We think that the first phase will take approximately two months to complete, and unfortunately we have had to close Bleach Green Lane.

“We apologise to the public but it was necessary to close the Lane off because we do not want to see anyone hurt while the work is taking place and we hope that people will be mindful of the signs.

“It is closed off on the lane side and at Dungiven Priory, but it will not affect access to the Priory itself.”
