The prize draw, held in Larne’s Olderfleet Bar recently, raised the fantastic sum of £4,000.

The supporters club and Liverpool FC also provided prizes. The top prize was a Liverpool shirt signed by the 2013/14 squad.

All proceeds were split between football development club, Larne Youth football and Macmillan Cancer – a charity which Liverpool boss Rodgers holds dear.

Macmillan provided help for the Carnlough man’s own parents before they passed away due to cancer.

Chris Dears, chairman of the Supporters Club and general manager of Multi Packaging Solutions said: “It was a great team effort by all the club members.

“The money raised will help fight cancer and help the local community by supporting football development and coaching in the Larne area.”

David Simms of Larne Youth said: “It’s great to know that a great football club such as Liverpool and their supports are willing to go the extra mile to support youth development; a fantastic achievement that will make a real difference to the children.”
