Gordon was also ordered to pay £100 compensation for the damage he caused.

The court heard that at 3.45pm a hit and run accident happened at Taghnevan Walk when a blue jeep reversed into a parked car before driving off at speed.

Police called at the last registered owner of the vehicle and noticed a small amount of damage to the vehicle.

The driver was identified as the driver at the time of the collision and the owner said she had not given him permission to drive. Gordon admitted taking the car without permission.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he had taken the car to go down to the shops and had reversed into a parked car.

He added that Gordon panicked, drove home and told his mother when he got home.
