Carrickfergus Castle Practice to begin Covid-19 jabs for target group

Covid-19 vaccinations for a target group of patients will be begin next week at a GP surgery in Carrickfergus Health Centre.

In a statement, Castle Practice said: “We are delighted to be able to start vaccination of our 1st Covid target group of patients next week, 14th Jan.

“We will be contacting patients but our over 80s who can attend the health centre should feel free to contact reception to make an appointment.”

Meanwhile, the extension of the flu vaccination campaign to include patients aged 50 to 65 is available to book from the Taylor’s Avenue-based practice today (Thursday).

“We are happy to be able to offer vaccination for flu for the over 50s for the first time - this has always been for specific target groups of at risk patients and those patients over 65.

“Flu vaccination clinics will start week beginning 11th Jan 2021. Anyone who is due a flu vaccine and did not avail of it before Christmas is also welcome to contact us for an appointment,” the statement added.

All vaccination clinics for flu or Covid will take place in the health centre but patients must access the building from the door at the back of the premises near the Barn Road entrance. The practice notes this will be the best area for parking facilities for those attending the clinics.
