Co Armagh primary school children enjoy spooky visit to Loughgall farm's pumpkin patch

Pupils from a Co Armagh primary school, who planted pumpkins earlier this year, enjoyed a visit to the farm to harvest their spoils.

Gilfresh Produce welcomed pupils from St. Oliver Plunkett’s PSl, Ballyhegan to their farm recently to see their pumpkin patch and explore their maize maze, both of which they planted this year for the first time.

The pupils took part in a spooky letter hunt around the maze before arriving at the pumpkin patch. They were then able to learn more about the planting, growing and harvesting methods used.

Each child picked up a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take away with them. St. Oliver Plunkett’s Primary School is running a pumpkin carving competition for the pupils with the pumpkins on the approach to Halloween.

Anne Mac Oscar, of Gilfresh Produce said: “We were delighted to link up with St. Oliver Plunkett’s PS to give the children an insight into the process involved in growing, harvesting and packing the pumpkins.”
