Gleno gets community defibrillator

Gleno Community Association has welcomed the installation of a new community defibrillator at Dairyside Stores.

The lifesaving equipment is located just to the left of the shop's front entrance on Waterfall Road.

Access can be gained 24/7 by calling 999 and the operator will give a code to open the protective cabinet.

The defibrillator can be used by anybody as verbal instructions are given.

Gleno Community Association Chairperson, Mrs Rosalind Booth said: “Having speedy access to a defibrillators in the rural community is vital as they can save lives. On behalf of the community, I would thank Mrs Sandra McDowell for both giving financial assistance and for agreeing that the defibrillator could be located at this central location, at Dairyside Stores.

"Thanks must also be given to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, who provided a 75 percent grant towards the defibrillator cost and also to the members of our community who had made donations towards this vital lifesaving equipment."
