Oil stamp saving scheme launched for Antrim and Newtownabbey

The initiative allows members of the public to purchase £5 oil stamps. The stamps are then placed on a savings card to be used as payment or part payment for oil at any of the participating oil companies.

Mayor, Ald Stephen Ross commented: “Home heating oil can be an expensive purchase, especially around Christmas time and our Oil Stamp Saving Scheme is a great way to spread the cost.

"It also helps residents to save up for a larger quantity of oil, which should enable them to benefit from a better cost per litre, saving money in the long-run. With the price of oil and other expenses on the rise, winter can be a difficult time for many.

"As a council, we have a number of schemes and initiatives in place to help support those in need. For details on this, please contact our Environmental Health Team on 028 9034 0160 who will be happy to give you advice.”

The scheme operates right across the borough. Retail outlets selling the oil stamps as part of the scheme are located in Antrim, Crumlin, Randalstown, Templepatrick, Toomebridge, Ballyclare, Glengormley, Mallusk, Monkstown, Mossley, Rathcoole and Whiteabbey. Stamps are also available from the Council offices at Mossley Mill, Antrim Civic Centre, the Sixmile and Valley Leisure Centres and the Old Courthouse, Antrim. The scheme is open to all householders living in the Borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
