Politicians and hacks not trusted on Brexit

A new poll by Ipsos-Mori shows citizens are not listening to politicians and journalists when it comes to the Brexit debate. Instead they are taking counsel from friends and family, academics and small business owners.

The pollsters asked prospective voters “who do you trust on issues relating to the referendum on European Union membership?”

The results were as follows: friends and family (73 per cent); academics (66 per cent); small business owners (64 per cent); work colleagues (46 per cent); the ordinary man/woman in the street (46 per cent); my immediate manager at work (36 per cent); leaders of large business (36 per cent); the head of my company (31 per cent); civil servants (29 per cent); trade union officials (26 per cent); journalists (16 per cent); and politicians generally (12 per cent).
