Pupils notifiedof school places

Pupils in the North Eastern area were notified of their post primary schools at the weekend.

A North Eastern Education and Library Board spokesperson said: “Almost five thousand notification letters were posted by the Board on Friday 23 May to parents of pupils transferring from primary to post primary school. All letters were posted by first class mail, to be received on Saturday 24 May”.

“The Board’s Open Enrolment/Transfer section provided an out of hours’ helpline for parents who did not receive their notification letter”.

89% received a place in their first preference school and 41% received a place in a grammar school.

If a parent feels that a school has not applied, or correctly applied its criteria in refusing their child a place, they have a right of appeal to an Independent Tribunal by contacting The Clerk of the Appeal Tribunal
