Pupils take walk in fundraising bid

There were a few raised eyebrows at Lurgan Technical College in 1977 when teachers told their pupils to go take a walk.

And that’s precisely what the 500 boys and girls did – straight to the playing fields at Carrick Primary School.

There they marched around the perimeter 10 times before returning to be congratulated by the staff.

The pupils were taking part in a fundraising effort to purchase a new school minibus and the walk raised £600 towards their target.
