Wendy told the group that CAP was launched Larne in June 2014. It is a debt counselling service which receives inquiries from those who self-refer.

She explained that the aim of this free service is to assist anyone who is in debt and to help them manage their money, learn new life skills and become more independent.

A new initiative called “group release” is being introduced by CAP to help those with underlying problems such as dependency on alcohol, drugs, and gambling which may prevent them from breaking free from their debt problems.

CAP is a Christian based organisation and offers prayer to all clients.

To date, Wendy has assisted 20 clients, with 14 being helped currently.

A CAP money course, which is free, is starting on Wednesday April 29, at First Larne Presbyterian Church, for three evening sessions.

It is primarily aimed at engaged and newly-wed couples to help them budget and handle their money effectively.

Patricia thanked Wendy for her very informative talk.

The next meeting of the Tuesday Group will take place on May 19, in Larne Methodist Church Hall, commencing with refreshments at 10.30am.
