Robbers wreck shop but leave cashless

Bar-wielding youths wrecked a mobile shop in Londonderry before fleeing empty handed on Monday (February 2), according to the PSNI.

Describing the incident, which occurred in Carnhill, Detective Inspector David McQuade said: “At around 8pm on Monday, 2nd, two youths carrying iron bars entered the shop and demanded money from staff members.

“They are not thought to have received any, but wrecked the shelves.

“They split up after the incident, with one heading towards Carnhill to the green area at the rear of the college, and the other making for Collon Lane towards Slievemore.”
