Silent solidarity march and rally for refugees

Trade unionists are inviting members of the public to silently march through Londonderry on Saturday, September 12, in solidarity with the millions of refugees fleeing war in the Middle East and North Africa.

Londonderry Trades Council will be assembling at the Waterside railway station at 2pm before marching across the river to Guildhall Square.

Those unable to march are invited to attend a public meeting at Guildhall Square at 3pm, which will be addressed by migrants, refugees and local trade unionists.

“There has been a huge amount of interest from the local community and the Trades Council are acting on this and coordinating with the UK wide day of action,” a spokesperson said.

The march will proceed from the train station via Duke Street, Craigavon Bridge, Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, The Diamond and Shipquay Street.
