Six burglaries in 24 hours in Coleraine

Causeway Coast and Glens police are investigating a series of burglaries between the Wednesday, December 9 and Thursday, December 10.

Superintendent John Magill said: “There were a total of six burglaries overnight, the first reported at around 8am on Thursday and the last that evening as people realised their garages and sheds had been broken into.

“Three of the burglaries happened in the Nursery Avenue area of Coleraine, two in Forest Park and another in Ratheane Avenue.

“They all involved sheds and garages. We are investigating them as a linked series and it is highly likely that one person or the same group of individuals were involved.

“I would urge people to revisit their home security measures. Most burglaries are opportunistic and involve criminals taking advantage of unlocked doors and windows.

“Locking doors and windows also includes locking sheds. Also please report all suspicious activity to police immediately. Our patrols will be on the lookout for criminals, particularly in the early hours of the morning.

“We are asking for the help of the public in preventing future burglaries and helping us to put criminals on the back foot.”
