Slemish scene for fund raiser

Slemish Mountain and the Ecos Centre will provide the settings on Saturday, September 14, for the 2013 Slemish Challenge and Fun Day.

All money raised on the day, which starts at 10am, will go to the North West Mountain Rescue Team which has been providing a vital search and rescue service locally for over 30 years.

All activities will be based at or start from the Ecos Centre and these include static displays & family fun, a treasure hunt, Slemish Cycle, the Slemish Challenge and the Slemish Run, half-run, relay, 10km and 5km.

The Challenge requires participants to complete a 27km run followed by a 27km cycle between the Ecos and Slemish mountain car park.

Participants could instead go for the Slemish Cycle or Slemish Run which each cover 27m, the 14km half run or two people could enter for the 27km Slemish Relay.

There are also 10km and 5km options which start and finish at Ecos.

There’s a £10 entry fee to take part in running or cycling events if you register beforehand or £12 if you’re entering on the day.

A shuttle bus will be available to take non competitors to the car park at Slemish for just £1 return ticket.
