Hide AdA barrister representing the defendant said he had been teetotal for four years but on this occasion had taken a few drinks and was on medication which made him more intoxicated than he intended. He explained that Nadybal used the knife at his work and kept it in his work trousers.
The lawyer added that he had not closed the knife properly and cut his leg. This hurt him and he then damaged the door. He said that Nadybal intended to buy and fit a new door.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he was concerned about the defendant’s record which contained an entry for assault.
He described this as an ‘angry fit’.
