Top award for local train station

JORDANSTOWN Train Station was one of seven bus and rail stations across Northern Ireland to achieve the top Platinum accolade in this year’s TIDY Translink Awards.

The seven facilities scored 95 per cent or above in a rigorous assessment process designed to ensure that local bus and train stations are clean, tidy and environmentally-friendly.

A further seven Translink stations scooped Gold awards, while 10 stations received Silver.

The TIDY Northern Ireland assessment categories include: general cleanliness, litter awareness, graffiti awareness, exterior maintenance and waste management.

Speaking about the results, Translink Group Environmental Manager, Andy Bate, said: “We are thrilled with this year’s performance that saw more stations than ever before enter the top Platinum and Gold award ratings demonstrating our employees’ outstanding commitment to providing an attractive bus and rail network for both passengers and colleagues to enjoy.

“Attractive stations play a key role in encouraging more people to travel by bus and train and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with TIDY Northern Ireland to ensure our facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards.”
