Upper Road speed limit to be reviewed
In a statement, a spokesperson from TransportNI indicated the Department of Regional Development did not intend to provide any additional ‘formal’ traffic calming measures on the route.
“However, TransportNI in conjunction with the PSNI, recently carried out a review of speed limits along the B90 from the A8 to the B149 Beltoy Road,” the spokesperson added.

A consultation process regarding the provision of a 40mph limit to the west of Greenisland will take place in the coming weeks.
The area proposed will cover the Monkstown Road junction, extending to the existing 40mph limit to the east of the village and including the development around the Trooperslane Road junction.
Welcoming the announcement was East Antrim MLA, Stewart Dickson.

“People in the area have expressed to me their concern of this traffic increase, but also the high speed limits on sections of the road, and indeed drivers exceeding the limits. This is especially worrying when constituents’ driveways back directly onto the road.
“I’m optimistic that the implementation of lower speed limits will help allay these concerns, and make the road safer for residents and road users alike.”
Meanwhile, the £50million A2 upgrade scheme is on track for completion this summer.
