David Lyness (48), Toberhewny Hall, was ordered to pay £586 compensation for criminal damage on July 31 last year.

He was also given a conditional discharge for 18 months for disorderly behaviour.

The court heard that at 11.20pm in Church Place, Lurgan, there had been an earlier incident involving the defendant’s son and the police.

The defendant began shouting and swearing at police and got on the bonnet of a police vehicle causing a number of dents.

When interviewed he said he could not recall what happened and apologised for his behaviour.

A defence barrister said he accepted his conduct was improper and he had taken a lot of drink. He added that the defendant’s son was being taken into custody by police and Lyness, in his state of intoxication, reacted inappropriately.
