Video: End of era at Dogs Trust as Mary Carney retires
Dogs Trust Ballymena Manager, Mary Carney is well known to generations of dog owners across the country having re-homed thousands upon thousands of rescued dogs.
And to mark the occasion a surprise party was thrown in her honour by friends and colleagues to show their appreciation for her decades of hard work.

Hide AdA tireless worker on behalf of canine companions, last year Mary received the Ballymena Times ‘Person to be Proud of’ award.
Although Mary is retiring, she won’t be staying away from the centre completely.
Mary started out as a volunteer and now in retirement her aim is to return to this role.
She said: “I will probably come back and just do voluntary work, I couldn’t stay away from the place. I will get to spend more time working with the dogs.”

Hide AdSpeaking about her time at the centre, she added: “It was very rewarding, you wouldn’t really call it a job.
“It was great to find them all homes and great that if they weren’t homed they could stay here for the rest of their life. I have to admit, I wil miss it.”
“I would like to thank the public for all their support and for keepin their hard work, support and help over the years.”
