Wear red on February 6 urges mayor

Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor George Duddy with Pearl Mahon, Health and Well-Being Officer and Alexis Bloomfield, Senior Environmental Health Officer at Coleraine Borough Council.

Councillor George Duddy said: “Coleraine is one of only three ‘heart towns’ in Northern Ireland, meaning it has made a commitment as a community to come together in the fight against heart disease. As Mayor of Coleraine Heart Town I urge you all to come together and commit to fighting for every heartbeat by joining the ‘Wear it. Beat it’ event.”

“I will be hosting an event at Council offices in Cloonavin and will be encouraging all our local Councillors and Council staff to show their support by wearing red on February 6th to raise money for the lifesaving research the British Heart Foundation does.”

Gary Wilson, Fundraising Manager at British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland added: ““Every pound raised will help make a massive difference to the thousands of local people living with heart and circulatory disease. It’s a fantastic chance for the whole community to come together and take a stand against heart disease.”
