Woman rescued after cliff fall
A woman understood to be in her early forties was airlifted from the coastal path between Ballintoy and Whitepark Bay on the North Antrim coast on Sunday when she fell around lunch time.
Ballycastle coastguard cliff teams were called to the incident with the Northern Ireland Ambulance service and assessed her condition. It was then decided that the best method of extraction from the scene would be by Coastguard Helicopter.Belfast MRC centre who were coordinating the incident tasked a Irish Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 118 from Sligo. On their arrival they airlifted the woman by winch as their wasn’t a suitable landing site at the scene of the incident before transferring her to the causeway Hospital at Coleraine. It is believed that the woman was with a school outing when she fell on the path and that she is suffering from a broken leg and ankle injuries.
