Sinead Fagan (38), Garland Court, was also fined £250, with a £15 offender’s levy, for failing to provide a breath sample on September 20 this year.

The court heard that at 11.10pm the defendant was stopped while driving at Garland Drive and police noticed a smell of intoxicating liquor.

An initial breath test provided a reading of 79 but at the Lurgan custody suite she failed to provide a sample that was suitable for an evidential test.

A solicitor for Fagan, who had been driving for 11 years with no previous convictions, said she had taken some alcohol about five o’clock.

She added that the defendant felt fine enough later on to drive down to the shop.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said that the preliminary test showed the defendant was over twice the limit.
