Armstrong is new holder of Woodside Cup at Raceview

The scoring system changed from stableford to stroke and 16-handicapper Richard recorded four pars plus five bogeys on the first nine holes.

He added five pars and four bogeys on the second nine which all added up to a nett score of 61.

Second nett prize was taken by James Millar (22) with a nett score of 62, of which the front nine accounted for four pars but against that, he had a trio of double bogeys.

The back nine saw James record double bogeys at 11 and 12 while the other seven holes were five bogeys, a par at the 10th and a birdie at the 13th.

Third nett was won by James Allen (12) who had the best of three scores of 63.

James opened with a par only to drop two shots on the second and he completed his opening nine holes with three pars, three bogeys and a birdie on the seventh to be through the first nine holes in four over.

Into the second nine with two pars, he then followed that with four bogeys but he finished strongly with birdies at the 16th and 18th with a dropped shot in between.

Fourth nett was Paul Shaw, also wit ha nett 63, only to lose out over the second nine to Allen.

Sixteen-handicapper Shaw got his round going with a trio of pars, to which he added five bogeys plus a birdie at the par five ninth.

The back nine accounted for for three pars, five bogeys plus a double concession on the 12th for a round of 11 over par and nett score of 63.

Another nett 63 came from fifth placed Harry McGarry (10)only to lose out over the last six holes. Harry’s front nine accounted for six pars, bogeys at the first and eighth plus he birdied the ninth. His back nine was made up of five pars plus four bogeys for a round of five over gross.

The final nett prize went to Leslie Frew (17) who had a nett total of four under 64. The outward nine produced four pars, four bogeys plus a double bogey on the par four fifth, whereas the inward nine saw another four pars and four bogeys but a triple bogey on the 15th was costly.

Best gross card came from four-handicapper Steven Smyth who played the course in level par 68 shots.

Steven’s outward nine was six pars, two bogeys and a birdie at the par three second to be out in one over gross. The homeward nine got off to a superb start with a birdie, followed by bogey, par, birdie before parring the final five holes.
