Ballymena secure Midweek Triples League title

The annual Midweek Triples League competition reached its conclusion last week.

Ballymena were crowned as winners after dominating the competition.

After opening up a commanding lead in the early weeks of the season, the Old Ballymoney Road side had some 10-and-a-half points in hnad over second placed Ahoghill, who can be proud of their achievement in finishing ahead of some of the bigger clubs.

At a presentation at the Ballymena club recently, league organiser Seamus Gilmore presented the Evans Shield to Ballymena captain Barbara Burnett.

He also thanked all of the league’s participants and also thanks the Ballymena/Antrim Times for its coverage of the competition.

Seamus concluded by wishing everyone involved in the league good health and said he looked for ward to next summer’s competition.

Final league standings were:

Ballymena 53.5 points

Ahoghill 43 points

Old Bleach 35 points

Broughshane 25.5 points

Portglenone 19 points

Antrim II 12.5 points

Antrim I 6.5 points.

The knockout competition - the Connie Scott Memorial Cup - was won by Portglenone.
