Big day on Saturday for the parkrun

THIS Saturday the Portrush arkrun will be hosting Paralympian 100m finalist Sally Brown as well as the Mayor of Coleraine, councillor Sam Cole.

Portrush parkrun is a free, weekly, timed, 5km run or walk.

It is organised by volunteers who, every Saturday morning at 9:30am, hold a weekly, timed, 5km run from the Watersports Centre to the White Rocks and back.

It is open to the hardest of veteran runners to test their fitness to the person that just needs that extra push to get them started.

All you have to do is register www.parkrun.org.uk/register you will then be given a barcode, bring this to any parkrun in the world and you will be able to run or walk in the event.

There are seven parkruns in Northern Ireland and almost 200 in the world, Portrush is the only parkrun on the beach.

So come along and test yourself, see if you can beat an olympian, or just give yourself that extra push that you need to get going.

On the very same day Waterworks parkrun is also celebrating their secondnd birthday so there will be big celebrations there too.
