The All Saints boxer cruised into the quarter-finals of the welterweight division after a dominant victory over Tonga’s Oscar Finau.

Donnelly was in razor-sharp form against his Pacific island opponent, claiming a unanimous points decisision after dominating all three rounds.

Indeed, one judge had Donnelly so far ahead that he scored the first two rounds 10-8 in the Ballymena man’s favour, rather than the usual 10-9 margin.

Donnelly drew plaudits from commentators for his ability to switch styles from orthodox to southpaw and he had too much know-how for his younger opponent.Steven now takes on Canada’s Custio Clayton in Wednesday night’s quarter-final.
