Callum and Graeme sealwin for the Seconds

In a low scoring game on a difficult batting wicket, Lurgan Seconds maintained their unbeaten run this season with a narrow four run win against Ballymena at Eaton Park.

Batting first, Lurgan were soon in trouble and by the eighth over were sitting on 25 for 3 with Callum Gibson, Peter Maxwell and Nathan Crozier all back in the pavilion. However Graeme Hunter was still at the crease to keep the scoreboard ticking, until he was eventually judged out lbw for 30. Callum Grieve took advantage of some loose bowling towards the end of the Lurgan innings, punishing the home attack to score a valuable 35 not out and pushing the town total to 135.
Ballymena started brightly and had reached 48 without loss by the 14th over. However once the dangerous Colgan was dismissed for a top score of 29, Lurgan clawed their way back into the game. Pressure began to build as the Lurgan bowlers, in particular from Peter Maxwell (1 for 27), Bill Walter (2 for 33) and Andrew Bingham (2 for 27). The pressure eventually told with Callum Grieve and Graeme Hunter taking two wickets each to seal victory by 4 runs.

The ball sponsors for Lurgan’s games this weekend were Anon, Graeme Hunter and Ross McCollum.
