Donemana receive boost

THEY say that if you don’t ask you don’t get and when it comes to trying to improve facilities at Donemana Cricket Club, Norma McBrine isn’t afraid to ask.

The Holm club took delivery of a number of eco-plastic benches and picnic tables courtesy of Ground Care NI and the new seating is now in place to add comfort for the end-of-season viewing.

The Donemana secretary said that more North West clubs should be looking into these types of grants which are not exclusively sports related.

“I applied to Ground Care NI in April for this grant and was delighted to learn recently that our application had been approved 100 per cent,” she admitted McBrine.

“The grant isn’t just for sports clubs but any organisation within a community that requires help to make their grounds more accessible or environment-friendly.

“I thought that seating would be a great idea for the children, the elderly or anyone that wanted to come and watch a game and enjoy the beautiful scenery around our club. The seating is now in place and I believe it adds plenty to the ground’s image.”

Donemana handed £10k boost for eco-plastic benches and picnic tables.

“I would really encourage North West clubs to explore other funding sources as this has been the third application I have been successful with this year and not one of the sources was connected to sports.

“Ground Care NI have their own website and applications for assistance can be obtained there.”
