After ending Eglinton’s hopes by six runs on Saturday they then fell just nine short themselves at Beechgrove 24-hours later.

Those results means we’re down to three combatants in the title race after a hectic weekend.

Donemana and Brigade are now eyeing up their own private shoot-out at the Holm on Saturday.

It’s a (reasonably) simple equation after Sunday’s two crucial matches - if Brigade win in Tyrone at the weekend, they claim the trophy.

If Donemana win, they go to the Bleachgreen the following Saturday needing to beat Gary Neely’s team to make it a league and cup double.

If it rains, or if Donemana win against Brigade and then lose to Ardmore, we’re back to all sorts of shenanigans.

What is for sure is that Coleraine are now out of the running after an agonising weekend.

That defeat to Brigade meant that the Waterside team joined the champions on 16 points at the top of the table but with Brigade 2-0 up on head-to-heads, Coleraine cannot now finish above Andy Britton’s team.

Ardmore remain alive in the race themselves .after winning a high-scoring game at Strabane Park
