The Under 16’s were next on stage, as they took part in a series of 5-a-side games in the sports hall from 1.00pm.

The superb turnout of footballers welcomed the first of the special guests, Mr Clive Elliott and Mrs Margaret Elliott as they presented The James Elliott Shield to the boy that displayed the highest level of endeavour, leadership and sportsmanship in the last year-the winner being Adam Freeman.

This trophy will now be presented on an annual basis.

The Elliott family then delighted the crowd as they presented the School with a brand new playing kit, in memory of their son James.

The biggest cheer of the day was reserved for the two Linfield players, Michael Gault and Michael Carvill, as they mingled amongst everyone, offering advice and guidance for all the young players, signing autographs and posing for photographs-ultimately being the last people to leave the building!

The final event of the day was the annual Friendly game between the u16’s and the u18’s, the younger lads emerging victorious with a 4-2 scoreline .

The Chairman of the Board of Govenors, Mr. Brian Dillon, thanked everyone for attending, with special mention to the Elliott Family for their generosity and both Linfield players for making the journey. He also congratulated the coaching staff on the fine achievement in the last year of fielding eight different teams, providing football for almost 130 boys.

An excellent Days entertainment for all Dalriada footballers.

Everyone in the School wishes the boys continued success for the season ahead.
