St Peter’s, Éire Óg and St Paul’s who are showing good form may have to decide as to whether or not they are ready for life in the first division.

St Paul’s secured two wins last week against Tír na nÓg and Mullaghbawn, and their comfortable win in the latter game would indicate that the Teghnevan men are the form side in their division.

Éire Óg have taken most neutrals by surprise as they continue to rise up the second flight having just last season been promoted from what was the old fourth division.

St. Peter’s are out in front in division two but the Whites already in 2012 have drawn with both Éire Óg and St Paul’s which indicates that little separates the three local rivals.

But are any of these clubs ready for first division football and could promotion prove a slight bridge too far as has been the case with Clann Éireann and to a greater extent Wolfe Tones?

The glaring gap between the first and second divisions has led some to argue that four divisions in Armagh are the ideal scenario and the ‘missing division’ is causing an imbalance as far as middle tier clubs are concerned.

Currently the top of the second division has seven teams in contention for promotion with just two points covering the main contenders.
