FOOTBALL: Gaston and Coyles take over Reserves

COLERAINE legend Paul Gaston is back at Coleraine.

The former defender, who made over 600 appearances for the Bannsiders, joins fellow old boy Drew Coyles in the new Reserve team management set up.

First team boss David Platt confirmed the appointment this week and believes the pair can help the development of young players at The Showgrounds.

"I'm delighted to announce that Paul Gaston and Drew Coyles will be taking over the Reserve team," said Platt.

"Both men have shown a real desire and enthusiasm for the job and they experience to help bring through the next crop of first team players.

"Gacky is a legend at Coleraine and it's fantastic to see him back after a short break away.

"He has been working hard on his coaching badges and coached a lot in local schools. He has built up a lot of contacts and earmarked a lot of talented local young players.

"Drew will complement Paul. He knows the game inside out and together they want to take the whole youth set up on to the next step."

On the playing side of things Platt is still trying to ad to his squad.

But the Coleraine boss, who is in the middle of his Pro-Licence assessment this week, poured cold water on speculation linking him with David Ogilby and Kevin Ramsey.

"That's total speculation," he said. "We are speaking with Institute about Joe McCready and we hope the clubs can sort out a deal.

"But I can assure you no other player has been mentioned.

"McCready is the only player I am focusing on at the minute."
