Chance to cut thegap on Coleraine

Since Glenavon eased to a 3-0 home win over Coleraine in September, Oran Kearney’s side went on a superb 11 match unbeaten run which ended at Linfield last Saturday.

The match gives Glenavon the chance to cut the gap between the sides to three points and manager Gary Hamilton is not prepared to go for anything other than a win.

“Second best is not on my radar,” said Hamilton. “We will go with the aim of getting a victory.

“It will be extremely difficult, but it is a game and a challenge we are capable of achieving if we keep up our performance levels.

“It is crucial we keep it tight at the back and if we do that then I believe we can create enough chances to hopefully give us the edge.

“We may have beaten them comfortably at home, but I don’t read too much into that and it will have no bearing on the game on Saturday.

“They had a few players missing through injury and suspension when we last met and once they got those top players back they put together a great run.

“By all accounts they were unfortunate to lose at Linfield last week so they will want to bounce back as quickly as possible.

“Games like this should hold no fear for our players because we have shown what we are capable of.

“Our fans now have a team they believe can go into every game with a chance of winning. That is all down to the players. It may not always work out, but our strategy is always to be positive.”
