Ferris on show in Centenary Shield

Portadown's Nathaniel Ferris was handed a starting spot for Northern Ireland Schoolboys against Scotland.

The Portadown College pupil proved impressive across his recent debut display for the under 18s during a tour taking in fixtures with Guernsey and Jersey.

Ferris found the net on four occasions across the short trip and, as a result of his progress, was listed to start last week’s opening Centenary Shield clash.

The 1-1 draw with Scotland offered an encouraging start to the inspiresport-sponsored tournament.

Northern Ireland face England in Comber today (Friday).

A visit to Arklow to face Republic of Ireland has been scheduled for St Patrick’s Day.
